"...Maybe I’m the problem and the one that’s causing all of this. I can’t say I love you no more, ‘cause my friends gon’ judge me for sure..."
When Giveon dropped his debut single LIKE I WANT YOU back in 2019, there was no question that the essence of R&B had been saved by the talent of a young baritone vocalist. Now with his newest release, When It’s All Said and Done, Giveon proves himself capable of taking on classic R&B.
Having began songwriting as a child, the Long Beach native started his career through the Recording Academy’s Grammy U program at the age of 18. Breaking through the hearts of the Academy with his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me To The Moon, Giveon established himself early as a versatile artist destined to forge a long career in music as an artist.
Stuck On You, the leading single off When It’s All Said and Done, his audience further. In his interview with Revolt TV, Giveon discusses that the project is short and sweet with only one feature from Snoh Aalegra. For Giveon, the goal of this project is primarily to gain one million streams by his birthday in 2021.
When It’s All Said and Done dropped in October of 2020. This was the second of his projects dropped during this tumultuous year. Diverging from the pattern of his predecessor project Take Time, When It’s All Said and Done is a four-track EP that showcases the dark sides of himself. Following an emotional path of heartbreak and pressures from his peers, Giveon breaks open his heart into a perfectly packaged project.
The project showcases extreme vulnerability as he continues to paint a vivid picture of his pain and reminisces on his past romance without the backlash of the peers around him. His duo with Snoh Aalegra enriches the best of his emotional and rich voice. The resulting magic is spine-chilling and captivates the audience. The album will have you invest your feelings and drop barriers to embrace the full emotion of Giveon.
